In 2020 Ability Today launched the Academy for Disabled Journalists (ADJ) in partnership with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). A unique online, accessible course providing education for disabled students, delivered using the latest technology and reducing the barriers to learning that many disabled people face. They now support over 80 students to study and learn new skills using technology to make classes accessible. Using Zoom, Open Broadcast Software, speech to text, screen readers for the visually impaired, stenographers to live caption classes, special hardware for those with mobility problems and other software packages, allowing students with a wide range of disabilities to take part in online training and thrive. In January 2023, they launched the Academy for Disabled SEO Specialists providing access to a new program where disabled people can train and work from home.
