Alan was appointed Chief Executive Officer in January 2019. As CEO of Unilever, Alan is responsible for leading one of the world’s largest and most geographically diverse consumer goods businesses, with presence in 190 countries, serving 2.5 billion people every day. As a business leader, Alan is resolute in his vision to make Unilever a beacon for diversity and inclusion. Part of this is building a gender-balanced workforce and a wider value chain that helps to empower women. He has been key in working with INSEAD on a senior women leadership programme, implementing a suite of progressive policies such as flexible working and 16 weeks maternity globally, as well as partnering with organisations like Equileap, HeForShe, and Unstereotype Alliance to further drive greater gender equity and equality. Last year, Alan was crowned the number one advocate executive for women at work.
